Sertraline 25 mg

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've been on sertraline, 25mg for 7 weeks, I've been told it's not a therapeutic dose, but I've also read that for some people it works. Anyone have luck with 25? when I try to up these antidepressants, I get urinary problems, I did with celexa.

    Hi Nancy390

I have been on a 25mg dose for 6 months after being on 50mg dose for 12 months and it works fine for me.

Everyone's tolerance to medication is different so if it works for you at 25mg that's good.It took 13 weeks for the medication to work for me 1 week at 25 mg then upto 50mg for 12 months then down to 25mg.

This medication has been fantastic for me and helped me to enjoy life to it's full potential - it took me 48 years to admit I needed to take it after much soul searching and money spent on counselling for GAD.

It has allowed me to realise my full potential and I have a personal

coach I speak to every 3 months which helps.

My intention is to reduce to 12.5mg in 6 months then to come off them

completely but if I need a 25mg dose for the rest of my life that's ok with me.It took a tremendous of courage for me to take medication but life is far too short to be proud!

Remember we all react differently to medication so to say 25mg is not therapeutic is incorrect and give it time as I say it took 13 weeks to work for me and this felt like a lifetime but so worth it.I used to trawl these discussions for inspiration and promised myself that when I felt better I would help anyone who needed it - hope this has helped you - take care xxxx

thank you, I have high anxiety, came off valium 7 wks ago also, they put me on sertraline in detox. I'm praying it works, I need something to help. this has been one of the hardest times of my life. Thank you for the support. I also have a bladder problem, makes this all the harder. they tried to up me to 50mg and it gave me frequent urination. I have frequency right now, it just started. I drank the wrong water, upset my bladder. it's good to know it has helped other people. marconi27 did it take care of your anxiety? again, thank you

      Hi

Yes it did take care of my anxiety but you have to give it time.Once the anxiety subsided it allowed me to analyse how my thought processes were causing anxiety - not the situation.Talking also helps tremendously whether it's through a trained professional or with a loved one or friend.

I am a trained professional but just because I am doesn't mean I can tackle my issues alone - medication , talking , reading , exercising keep me stable. My anxiety has gone and when life throws me some challenges ( which is a guarantee for everyone!) I can cope.

I empathise with how you are feeling right now , but stick with it , I have a saying on my wall at home :

Always remember you are braver than you believe , stronger than you think and loved more than you'll ever know.

      Hope this helps xx

I've been on sertraline for 7 wks, anxiety still high, but I also went to detox to come off valium 7 wks ago, so it could be that is driving my anxiety. I'm praying the sertraline will eventually work. My OCD and depression have gotten better, so I'm hopeful. Thank you for your time and input, I appreciate it. it gives one some confidence to continue. one more question, did it give you any urinary problems? I'm experiencing urinary frequency, but I also have a condition called painful bladder syndrome. no pain right now, just frequency and urgency. hoping also that it's not the sertraline.

I started having urinary issues after a week of 25 mg.I felt like I had to pee ALL the time! It was awful. I am bow on week 6 and it feels lile that has subsided for the most part. I was about to try and switch because it was so annoying. I am assuming if I up it it willcome back so I am hopeful I can stay on 50. However,y anxiety seems worse this week than it has been since I started and I now have dark intrusive thoughts that I have never had before

I'm on week 7, seems weird for urinary issues to start now. could be the hydroxizine I also take, so hard to figure out. could be I have anxiety which can cause it too. Thanks, just trying to figure this out
