Sertraline

I've suffered with bad anxiety for 5 years now and have only just decided to go on medication. My doctor have me 50mg Sertraline. I've just started a new job which took me 3 years to get the courage to do and I'm already having doubts about whether I can handle it or not. I took my first tablet last night. I was just wondering how long it would usually take to notice results and if any? I'm trying to not let my anxiety get the better of me and control my life, but all I want to do is leave. Any help would be appreciated

Everyone is different but I started to feel slight improvement after a week. I'm on the same as you and on day 15 and I'm more cheerful, relaxed and focused. Give yourself the time to adjust and simplyfy your life commitments if possible for a few weeks, guilt free.

Wish you all the luck :-)

    hi there,

you're sertraline should take about 6-8 weeks to settle in your system, that doesn't mean you won't feel better within the next couple of weeks, just takes a while to take full effect if you know what i mean. well done on having the courage to take the meds and to try and get back into work, try not to worry about your anxiety, i know it's easy to say than do, trust me i've been there, but really, when the meds get into your system, you will start to feel better i'm sure, just trust them and let them do their job for you :-)

i've been in 50 mg dose for almost four months now and is working well for me. now, that being said my first 2-3 weeks were very difficult as i lost weight, had no desire to do things, nausea mostly but that changes from one individual to the other. bottom line expect 2-3 weeks until it kicks in.
