Sertraline 3 months - upping my dose?

Posted , 6 users are following.

HI,

I'm looking for a bit of advice, ive been on 50mg of sertraline for just over 3 months now and its been working okay with just slight anxiety in a morning. I've recently been poorly with a water infection and my anxiety has gone through the roof worrying about it.

Do you think i should up my dose to 100? Did anyone get side effects upping doses after 3 months?

Thanks

I'd suggest taking your doctor's advice. Water infections are notorious for causing temporary mental problems as well as physical ones, so hopefully your existing dose will be enough when things get back to normal.

hi Lauren, if it helps to know, i was on Sert 50mg for 12weeks, which helped a lot with my anxiety and depression, but i still had a lingering 'morning anxiety' (on waking) which generally settled around the early afternoon. i discussed this with my GP, and we agreed to up to 75mg. i did experience some mild side effects on initial increase, but nothing like i had when i first went on Sert (a nightmare 4-5 weeks) x

hi. thanks for the reply. do you remember how long the side effects lasted increasing doses?

I would suggest upping to 75mg first and staying for several weeks at this dose. Maybe it will be enough, and side effects are very mild going from 50mg to 75mg.
