Hi..sorry to hear you have been suffering from depression for so long. I have been on sertraline 100mg for about a year then 50mg for last 6 months. I would say it did help me but took a few months to take effect.

Am currently weaning off and have to say it has been rough, can't wait to be off it.

My doc gave me a weaning schedule but the advice I got on this forum was much better!!

    Best of luck to you...

Hi Gothilclady is that 59mg in the morning and 50mg at night you are takng?? The Sertraline is not easy to settle into its a bit of a rough ride with the side effects but if you persevere you can start to get back to normal at about 4-8 weeks of taking them. You should level out on the meds at about 4 weeks but then you may have up and down days till you reach at.least 8 weeks but we are all different. I have been on them since the beginning of November last year and I am now back to normal, I found that the anxiety and palpitations were the last thing to.go. I would never want to suffer those symptoms again in my life with panic attacks out of nowhere it was awful so glad I stuck it out especially as many times I felt like throwing the towel in. Hope it gets better soon but stick at.it

I have been on 50mg of zoloft for 10yrs. About 1 month ago panic came back and severe depression. I was a mess. My doctor upped my dosage last week to 100mg. It was rough the first couple of days, but im starting to get a little better. Keep on going it really does work
