The side effects can take a while to wear off and for the medication to actually start improving the way you feel. For me with Sertraline, after 3 weeks I started to see a real improvement in my anxiety levels but side effects took longer to wear off even then! If you can stick with it, its worth it x

Try taking your medication in the mornings instead of night time. It does take a while for the effects to take hold. I started on 25 mg for several weeks. Then upped to 50. I had to go back down to the 25 mg for a while... I am slowly increasing by cutting one 25 mg in half and taking 37 mg... I will up to 50 at some point. But the chest tightness and other side effects will improve... but do try to take it in the mornings and see if that helps. Good luck to you.

l have been taking it in an evening, 8 ish after my meal. l found that taking it in a morning made me feel quite nauseous. Getting on for 6 weeks, some better days but have difficult times as well. People say stick with it, it takes time.

Try taking it in the morning, so it doesn't interfere with your sleep. I know you may experience other side effects by taking it in the morning, but the side effects will slowly get better. I've been on this drug for more than half my life and experienced all sorts of side effects, nausea, dizziness, palpitations, hot/cold, brain zaps, diarrhea, constipation, you name it, I've probably had it.

Another thing is - try NOT to take any caffeine with this drug, esp like tea or coffee in the evening. You can try taking decaffeinated tea with your med in the evening and see if this doesn't interrupt with your sleep.

I hope this helps, hang in there, prayers coming your way.

      hi GodsServant

did u have hand sweating aswell and sinus problems? i heard that it can cause this but not sure?

thank u soo much for ur advice god bless you! x

YES! I had LOTS of sweating. Actually I still do now sometimes when I'm really stressed out and I am currently on 100mg daily. I can certainly tell you that anxiety itself can cause excessive palm sweating, in my case, forehead most noticeably. As for sinus problems, I don't recall specifically, but I guess this could be that there were other more bothersome side effects. Also, I'll be honest with this, whenever I go through an attack, my mind is so messed up that sometimes my thoughts, anxiety, fears, etc. make every little thing seem more exaggerated than it really is. So this could just be your mind playing tricks on you. I sometimes think I am dying of some rare disease whenever when I am in a very anxious state.

Take care - take it very easy until to get back to your normal state. God bless.

I will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night wet with sweat. I am not hot, just sweating. It will pass quickly. This doesn't happen often, but it is one of the side effects.
