hi - ive been taking sertraline for around 11-12 weeks now - at first it heightened my anxiety and first week or so was unbearable then over a few weeks it became manageable, now from about week 8 I feel really good, my only issue is when it comes to sleeping, I have no issue in getting to sleep in fact I get asleep prettt quickly, it’s staying asleep all night I have a ongoing problem with, this has been ongoing from about week 4/5 and starting to take its toll on me now, I’ve tried everything to going a gym three times week stopping smoking no caffeine drinks, having a bath late at night with bath salts what is supposed to promote good sleep, my doctor last week prescribed me mirtrazapine 15 mg she says to take half a tablet for a week and then to increase to a full tablet, I am a bit anxious of starting another anti depressant as I really didn’t like the first couple weeks on sertraline is the same going to happen? Also I don’t like the sound of weight gain either because I’ve put a bit of weight on since stopping cigarettes. Any advice welcome please

    Alright Micky,

I am roughly on the same time frame as you. I have been on Sertraline for just over 3 months. 1 month on 50mg, 2 month on 100mg. My anxiety is definitely more managable now but still here, i'm hoping with more time ill see more progress. I still have negative thought cycles but they seemed to have eased a little. As for sleeping I am the same, I can never seem to stay asleep and I wake up through the night then wake up with anxiety. I think when my anxiety came along this time it come with OCD. Stay strong micky
