Sertraline

Hello,

?

?So it's got to the point that I really need to give these tablets a go as my anxiety is so out of control.

?Main symptoms are constant tight chest, neck and legs through muscle tension. Panic states that sometimes last all day, massively hyper-sensitive, sometimes it feels like I am moving 200mph! and just general restlessness and getting upset over frustration of feeling out of control!

?I need something to calm me down and just let me take control over what my problem is, oppose to my body just getting overwhelmed at the smallest of things now.

?I have booked 8 days off work. Will this be enough time do you give to get sort of use to the tablets? is the first week the hardest?.

?I have been given 50mg and planning on starting with 50, as I don't want to adjust to 25mg and re-adjust to 50 again.

?I have no idea what to expect side effect wise as everyone is differernt. I have tried Prozac in the past and that was hell - ended up with 2 months off work which I can't repeat!

?I understand these can take 3-4 weeks to settle down, but I really can't have anymore time off work (had a lot off already with panic states).

?Any advice?

?Thank you

    Hey,

I'm on day five of sertraline I have a few side effects

Dizzy, spaced out, upset tummy. I'm having to ride it

Out as I'm in a new job and can't take time off work.

I take propanolo as well and the two drugs together made my pupils much bigger. Kept getting funny looks.

I see your on both? Maybe start with the sertraline first then add the propanolo. I also tired Prozac and it wasn't suited to me. I feel this drug is much better

I do feel something is working..

Let me know how you get on.

Thank you for the reply. I feel you're pain with having to ride it out.

?Fingers crossed it settles down fast. I have taken propranolol for around 6 month now to be honest. I just wanted something a little safer for long term use so that I can stop taking it. I do a lot of exercise and beta blockers really do slow you down!

Do you find it best to take it of an evening or in the morning by the way?

take sertraline in the evening it makes you tired and dowsy. I want to stop the propanolo too. I didn't realise it slows you down?? I'm planning on joining the gym as I felt better within myself when I was exercising.

I just found with propranolol, if I go cycling I normally struggle more on it. I think it's because it lowers your heart rate and slows your recovery time. Not great for cardio but perfect for stopping the adrenaline rushes that trigger panic attacks.

Still though, it has done me wonders. Just hoping Sertraline does a bit more!

I think you should start at twenty five, this drug increases anxiety for awhile I am having a time with it.

Lorraine did you notice anxiety straight away with it? I'm taking it for anxiety. Doc started me on 50mg

What side effects have you ever experienced just starting at 50mg?

The doctor said to start at 50mg as well as if I started at 25, I'd only have to re-adjust to 50 in a few days time!

Anxiety got much worse after about four days on fifty. Never settled down for me,after 3weeks I reduced my dose. I was bouncing off the walls, lots of panic, so now at 37.5 for four days, will try that for a bit. Maybe you could start at 25

I think everyone's reacts different. I'm on day five and don't feel to bad. Had a little anxiety yesterday. Just spoke with my doctor and she wants to increase after a few weeks. Prozac wasn't suited to me. So I'm just going to ride out the little side effects I am having.

Great news,,I have a friend that started at 50 and had no side effects. She stayed on it for three months and felt wonderful. Stopped it, and no side effects. Lucky her. Best of luck

All the best with the Sert. You say you do lots of exercise and that will be essential. You will feel rough for while but make yourself exercise as it disperses the drug. I'd take it mornings early, really early before you get up even. I'd also keep taking a Propanolol at night when the slowing down won't matter!

can I recommend you look at a small charity called No Panic. They produce a good CD relaxation exercise .

      Thank you, I will try.

I taken my first one last night 25mg. I definitely felt something. Oddly dizzy but managed to sleep through the night fine. Will probably do 25mg again tonight then up to 50mg.

Hopefully there aren't many side effects!

Yeah spoken to soon. Literally not stopped throwing up all morning and a bit spaced out and dizzy as well. Ah as if anxiety isn't bad enough, the med's don't help. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Oh bad luck buddy. Try an anti sickness med from the Pharmacist?

Just to have a bit of a laugh which we might need. I had a Panic Attack this lunch time, out of the blue, so raise you one Panic Attackcry
