Sertraline

Hi all.

Firstly about me. I have suffered from anxiety with a fear of death for about 10 years after a number of tragic events in my life.

I have taken citalopram for approximately 8 years and have found they stopped working. Was getting anxiety on the bus and in the car and am currently off work on the sick and have problems sleeping. Decided last week to bite the bullet (and yes it terrifies me) and change to setraline. I took my last citalopram yesterday and took my first 25mg sertraline tablet about 2 hours ago. To say I'm apprehensive is an understatement but let's see how it goes. I have decided to post my journey whether good or bad for others to share my experience.

I am going to remain positive however and think I'm going to think that any possible side effects that I could get are not necessarily side effects but symptoms of my anxiety disorder xx

I moved from Citalopram to Sertraline some years ago, and don't recall any particular problems - perhaps being both SSRI's gives a head start & reduces side effects etc, let's hope so. I recently came off sertraline & now trying to get back, & have had a much harder time, which was an unpleasant surprise given I assumed it would be relatively straightforward again.

I'm sorry to hear its not so straightforward for you this time around. The citalopram had stopped working for me so hears hoping the sertraline will help x

My problems are similar. I am on 200 and started at 25. At the beginning had side effects. It has been 6 months now but I take clanazapan for my anxiety low doze when needed. Hope this will help

      Thanks Jackie.

Doc has given me diazepam to help with side effects but gonna try not to take them see how it goes! More than likely wishful thinking that I won't but fingers crossed x

So after taking 25 mg for the first time last night today has been okay. Am very sleep deprived as had little to no sleep last night but other than that I have got through day 1. I still fear that I am going to get worse as the citalopram leaves my system and the sertraline kicks in but am trying to stay strong and positive x

It’s really rough in the beginning and still when you haven’t found the right dose. I recently increased to 75 and it’s def a lot better than 50. I have a lot less anxiety but still not 100%. I’m hoping in a few weeks it goes away completely or I’ll increase to 100. I hope you start to feel better soon!
