Hi there,

I have just started sertraline yesterday. i have just taken my second pill and feel very very anxious which is my mind to race in to heaps of things. Feel like I wont get better and my wife and kids will leave me.

Does Sertraline do this to you? I dont feel calm, relief or quiet in my head. I'm all over the shop.

Help me by telling me your story. This will be a long process and I have signed up to this forum for support throughout. Cant sleep for worry. Does this get better?

Sertraline along with other medication’s like it can initially increase anxiety for a while. You have to give it a good 6 to 8 weeks to really know if it’s going to work for you. but let your doctor know if after a week or two you still don’t feel right on it. Everybody reacts differently to these type of medication. I got off of sertraline because of the side effects but that doesn’t mean that it will happen to you. Sometimes we have to try several different medication‘s to find the right one.

the worst thing you can do is lay in bed and think about everything that is making you anxious. It will only make things worse. What I do is I turn on a meditation for anxiety on YouTube and I fall asleep before it’s over with. There are some great general relaxation meditations on there for sleep also. That way I don’t think about other things. Hang in there and I hope you get some relief soon. Take care
