Sertraline advice please?

Hi,

I've been on 100mg of sertraline for 2 weeks for treatment of anxiety and then depression. i've been told to give it at least a few more weeks to see any improvement but my current symptoms seem to vary between feeling so low and hopeless at times and then suddenly a panic/anxiety attack hits me! is this normal from any experience out there?? Thank you x

It is perfectly normal, most people seem to get worse before getting better on this drug unfortunatley. The one thing i will say to you is dont try upping the dose to quickly x

agree with everyone here. It really does take 6 to 8 weeks before you start having good days, and a full 12 weeks before you really feel like you are yourself again. It sucks that it takes that long, but sometimes it pushes you down lower before you are really healed. that being said, if you stick with it and keep telling yourself you are going to get better, you will find that it will be in your rearview mirror before you know it.

Yes, I have noticed chest tightness as side effect when I increased the Sertraline dose to 50 mg. This can happen when starting or increasing a dose of any SSRI. It should be transient, but if it persists you need to speak with your doctor about it.
