Sertraline and alcohol

Did anyone try drinking alcohol while being on Sertraline? I've been on Sertraline for 7 weeks, gradually increasing to 75mg .( I feel better now!). I haven't had any alcohol during this time. I take my pill in the morning and want to join some event and have a glass of wine around lunchtime. I know that alcohol and Sertraline is not the best combination, but I'd like to hear about your experience. Thank you!

Thank you! It's not that I need to drink, I just don't want to miss a barbecue party with good expensive wine haha. I'll give it a try and won't drink more than a glass. X x

I didn't drink for 6 months, then I gradually started again. I did not notice any adverse effects or difference to my normal drinking pre tablets.
The pharmacist said it might make me more drunk and quicker, so just watch your safety first time, maybe have a test run with a friend first.

Yes couple weeks ago I had three strong drinks rum and coke, I don’t Know about the affecte of Sertraline and Alchol because I felt hungover.
I would not advice you to mix Sertraline and Alcohol, However, you only live once the saying goes.
I’m still here to telll the tale.
Trouble with me is I don’t know when to stop ✋
Anyway hope that’s some help, where all different remember so each person reacts differently to medication and acholo.

Hi Alexandra, I've been on and off sertraline for a year now. I have drank alcohol many times while taking sertraline and have had a lot of fun. Being on a SSRI and drinking works really well for me. The only problem is the hangover the next day haha! Alcohol is a depressant which means that it can make you feel low, SSRI treatment increases serotonin in the brain which lifts you up. I wouldn't worry too much, enjoy yourself!
