Sertraline and Alcohol

Hi all, first post in this group.
After a review by my local mental health clinic, I've been recommended to try Sertraline for mild anxiety/depression. I'm not really keen on the idea of being on antidepressants but I'm keeping an open mind at the moment.
One thing I'm very concerned about is alcohol. The advice on websites is to not drink at all, or drink very small amounts. The thing is, I do like a drink and will consume a bottle of wine on a few days of the week. I know alcohol isn't recommended for depression but it genuinely doesn't affect me negatively - I never get drunk, and have insomnia and sleep better after a drink.
Is mixing alcohol with Sertraline dangerous, or are there any side effects? Would alcohol make taking the drug a waste of time?
Another question while I'm here, to do with medical records. If I do go on the drug, is any third party (say an insurance company) able to obtain that information? I used to believe in doctor/patient confidentiality but I'm not so sure these days 😃
Many thanks in advance.
James

When I was taking Sertraline I would regularly drink alcohol without any adverse effects.

Thanks Claire. Must say it's very confusing - the NHS site says you can drink with Sertraline but other websites say avoid alcohol completely! Good to know you didn't have any adverse effects but I do realise it varies from person to person.
