thank you.  if i can just get through this anxiety and know that it will end, i will be ok.  i can't bare the thought of trying another anti depressant. helps in knowing there are others going through the same thing

    Hi suzie78191

As mentioned by others, everyone is different , but it is vey common to have increased anxiety when starting these medications, ! Crazy that something to make you feel better has to make you feel worse initially. How long you been on the tablets

thank you for the reply.  i have been on them for about 20 days.  i really want to give them a chance because i have tried several others and i just couldn't do it.  this will be the 5th one and i just want to give it a chance to work.  i don't understand why all of the ssri's have to create so much anxiety.

    Hi Suzie,

I've been on them for nearly three months and did experience heightened anxiety in the first week or so and also little after the dose increased. Although I'm still severely depressed my anxiety is not nearly as bad as it was before taking sertraline. I hope it helps you!

Give them time. 20 days isn't very long in the scheme of things.keep going and if things with anxiety don't get better in a week or more maybe chat to your Dr again. No idea why ssri's do this !!!!
