Sertraline and bad depression/anxiety

Hi friends,

Happy New Year to you all.

I'm looking for some advice, please. So, I was on Escatilopram for around 5 years but hit a fair old wobbly period (anxiety) beginning around July 22. I spoke to my GP around the beginning of October and he suggested trying Sertraline at 50mg. The first couple of weeks were super difficult but I rode it out and quickly felt a good bit better..... for around 4 weeks. Around 6 weeks, my anxiety began to return and I felt pretty awful. I called the doctor again and he suggested moving up to 100mg. I can honestly say that this has made me feel worse than ever before. I decended into a deep black hole of depression and so I've returned to the lower dose of 50mg for the past few days. Still feeling horrendous though - depression and anxiety properly kicked in again. I really only wanted something that would help with intermittent anxiety as I rarely get depressed.

Looking for any help/advice and experience.

Thank you so much in advance.
