Sertraline and coffee = mania

Hi all, I would just like to know if coffee has an effect on yourselves, as when I have a cup of American, I'm feeling very manic for a few hours. It's helpful in ways but I can't stop talking and things. Is this a good thing or not?

Hi there. It depends on why you're taking Sertraline. If you have anxiety you should stay away from caffeine including fizzy drinks. I now drink decaf tea and coffee and lots of water and nothing else. If it's more so for depression then the odd cup might be good for getting some energy but don't overdo it. Hope this helps.

It doesnt have this effect on me, as I drink a lot of coffee. Bot a good thing to happen, depending on how much you drink ! Perhaps discuss with your dr if you would be better on something else,

The caffeine in coffee will be making you like this, change to decaf. I used to get very panicky on caffeine coffee but now take decaf, also decaf tea. Don't drink too many cups of coffee a day, I only have max of 2.
