Sertraline and Diarrhea

Hi All,

i suffer from health anxiety for the past 12 months triggered by a hospital stay. i have been on sertraline 50mg for about 5 months now and have had the usual tiredness, excessive yawning etc. however, recently i have started having loose bowel movements. My first one upon waking is soft and mushy, sorry TMI! i then have breakfast and have my 50mg dose along with it, dont have any issues then but for the last couple of weeks i have had an additional bowel movement after having my lunch, its sudden and my tummy rumbles and i know the diarrhea is coming. i know diarrhea is a common side effect but im just concerned that its a late onset? Anyone else had diarrhea that was there months after starting on sertraline? Also, there is no pain snd its just one loose movement.

Hi Kiran, yes, this has happened to me and still happens to me. I've been on sert at 100mg since Nov 2016 and whenever I have loose stool or diarrhea, then it's a sign that I am stressed. Having been living with this illness all my life, I'm better of seeing the signs now when I'm stressed, even when I'm on this med.

Hope nothing stressful has happened to you lately to cause this. I hope this helps.

I had it from moment 1, along with ZERO appetite for a solid week and a half! This med is really strange for me, alot of symptoms to deal with.
