Sertraline and panic reactions

I have a heart arrhythmia problem and have been suffering from anxiety. Was prescribed sertraline and took just 25mg once 3 days ago in the morning. After 8 hours it triggered my arrythmia which I controlled using bisoprolol but since then have been prone to extreme anxiety that I have never felt before. Also I need to take the bisoprolol more frequently. Can a single dose of sertraline do this?

You should see doctor, for sure. It might not be the sert that triggered, or more is going on than what appears.

    Hi Nauman,

I suppose it could do, however doctors would disagree.

I’ve been taken it for five weeks and i’ve had extreme anxiety, where i’m  considering not taking it.

The only problem is I suffer with depression, Axiety, and OCD, so i’m worried about what will happeto me if I do stop.

As I’ve mentioned before I have never known a antidepressant to have such severe side-effects as Sertraline.

Seeing the Gp Tuesday to see what I can do.

I think you should get advice as well, just to put your mind at rest.

    God bless.🙏

Thank you for you reply Blondey. From a discussion I just had with another doctor ssri's can cause problems in people with arrhythmia issues like myself. So apparently they may not be for me. I have been advised to take bisoprolol on a daily basis and then take a anti anxiety drug if needed. I guess everyone's condition and body chemistry can be quite different so I hope you find something that works for you. Five weeks on sert appears to be a long time for your system to settle down with it. Maybe you can ask your GP if supplements like magnesium or 5HTP could help you.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I did as well. When I hit nine weeks I felt no anxiety.  It takes a while but it does work.

Praying for you to get relief soon.
