Sertraline and pregnancy

Has anyone stayed on there meds when trying to conceive? I have a Dr phone appointment next week but just wondered if anyone has stayed on it whilst pregnant? I take 50mg and have done for 2 years. I suffered post natal depression with my first and I'm worried being off the meds could trigger this again.

    Hi there,

I have been taking 200mg sertraline the last 13 months as I m suffering from postnatal depression and anxiety.

The doctor prescribed this med because I am breastfeeding and said it was the safest one for this ocassion and not to worry if I fall pregnant again while I m on it.

Personally I would stay on it as I wouldn’t want to suffer again this .

How long did it take for you to overcome the depression? Have you found your self yet?

Hi. I am in the process of switching to sertraline from citalopram , saw my GP yesterday when this was decided and she said sertraline is a cleaner ad, what ever that means but she did add that it is the one they prescribe to be taken in pregnancy, I am sure you will be ok but as always be guided first and foremost by your doctor or a medical professional

HI, i am 5 month pregnant and taking Sertraline since the beginning. All is fine. I just had to reduce the dose for 50mg from 75mg as soon as i got to know that i am pregnant. There is a very small probability that Sertraline may cause heart defects in babies but it is really rear and as far as i know it is the safest antidepressant during pregnancy.
