Hi..I too take Sertraline & get most dreadful sweats..mainly around my hairline & mostly nighttime & first thing in the morning. I had hysterectomy 2 yrs ago & they started not long after so I thought it was to do with that but now think it may be the Sertraline. Am going to see gp soon about trying to wean myself off the Sertraline cos the sweats are really getting me down & so uncomfortable. Let me know if you have any update on this..how are u now?

    Hi,

47yr old male on 100mg Sertraline. Haven't spoken to the Dr about it but since being on these I suffer from night sweats and most embarrassingly, I take a shower in the morning, get dressed and then minutes later have sweat soaked armpits.

It's really annoying when you're standing up in a presentation. I have to keep my arms by my side and make sure I choose a light coloured shirt.

I hope you find a solution.

Hi ancient1!! (Love the name!).  I'm currently tapering off..went to GP last Mon..I'm now on 25mg every second day for 10 days then every 3rd day for 10 days then every 4th day for 10days then stop! Hopefully I will b able to come off them & stay off them. But main reason I want to stop is the sweating..which hasn't improved yet even tho I've come down gradually from 75 to 50 & now 25. I'm just hoping it will stop eventually. Doc says this is definitely a side effect of Sertraline & that if I do need to go back on something she would try something else that wouldn't cause this.  Hopefully that won't arise. By the way have u heard of/tried Perspirex..a lot of recommendations for it on other forum. Over the counter anti-perspirant that you use at night & wash off in morning..just thought I'd mention it

I was on 150 Sertraline and have been on antidepressants for over 10 years. I have never had severe sweating and for the past 3 years it has been bad. My Dr took me off Sertraline and put me onto duloxetine to see if it was the sertraline. That was 3 weeks ago and im still sweating badly. My sweats are from my head to my toes and inside i feel really hot but cold and clammy to the touch. Being 49 I thought it might be menopause but on or off HRT i am the same. Its got to the point that i cant function and it is so embarrasing. Im due to see my Dr on Friday and hopefully he can come up with something else. He said there is medication that can stop it but he wanted to rule out that it wasnt the sertraline that was causing the problem. I dont sweat during my sleep either so thats what makes me think it is hyperhydrosis and not sweats during the menopause

I'm fine at night just seems to be all day or If I over excerpt. I will let you know what the doc says. Armpits, feet and palms of hands are fine. I feel like I'm in a sauna all day and can't get out of it. I hate it!!

Hi Tracey..I'm weaning off the sertraline ..now on 25mg every 2nd day but still have the sweating. It's mainly face forehead scalp & back of neck. Worst in the morning getting ready for work..after shower !  Not bad at all during day for some reason but can get very bad again in the evenings. It's absolutely horrible & is the main  reason I'm trying to wean myself off in the hope that it will stop.

Hi Tracey..I am also weaning off with gp's help..I took 25 this morning & will not b taking another 25 until Thursday. To do that for 10 days then 25 every 4th day before I stop. I'm disappointed tho to hear what happened to u...I am going on week's hol in early Sept & should b off them by then ..gp wants to make sure I'm ok without them before I go away. I hope I'm not just feeling better because they r still in my systemsad.  My gp is very good & I've to go back to her when the 'weaning' is finished.  Did u feel ok while u were coming off them  when there was even a small amount still in your system? ie. did u only start feeling bad again after you had stopped taking them altogether and if so how long after?
