Sertraline and sudafed

Hi I have a really heavy cold at the minute and my nose is so stuffy. I went out and bought some sudafed blocked nose tablets. Looking through the don't take if.....It says if your taking certain types of antidepressants not to take them. I phoned a chemist since I'm not sure which type of antidepressant sertraline is and they said I should be fine to take them. Looking online tho it says interaction can occur between the two now I don't know which to listen to? Has anyone taken the two together? If so did you have any reaction? I'm scraed to take them now but I can't deal with this cold much longer either

If your chemist feels your situation will be ok, take that as regular information and possibly understand you MAY suffer some side affects

You can also chek on the instruction leaflet in both boxes. You can also refer to various internet sites under those medications.

Also you could try here for these medications contraindications or NHS Choices. on their a to Z medications.

If you need to confirm further talk to your GP. The Surgery will check MIMMS.

Dont use them. Why? Steamy shower and natural ways. It isnt worth something going awry. The cold will pass. Sudafed is horrid for anxiety to begin with. Nor is it a cure.  Go to the gp and get an exam. They know.

I've taken one about an hour a go now with no side effects, it's also made no difference to my cold so I don't think I'll be taking any more. Thank you for your advice

Chemists are usually quite good. however if you have some doubt and it is worrying you .. ring the chemist again and ask to speak to the pharmasist on duty and tell them that you are concerned and will they double check for any antéations with what you take.

If the chemist is shut depending whére you live you can call 111 for advice.

I say this because i bought some nasal spray from boots a while back and asked was it ok to take with the blood pressure pills i take.. they said yes but when i read the leaflet it said dont use if you have high BP.. So i rang 111 and they were really helpful but i live in england so as i say depends where you live xx

    good luck
