Sertraline change

So on top of having ocd, self harm, anxiety and depression, I've just been diagnosed with an eating disorder. I've been on 300mg sertraline for around 7 months now but have not been feeling any benefit so have been self medicating with paroxetine. Instead of increasing it they have decided to decrease it to 200mg. anyone have any knowledge of why they are doing this as im so confused xxxx

300mg seems very high. I have no idea why your doctor has said to decrease ..maybe because it isn't working. Did you not ask your doctor for the reasons why ?

My gp is really bad- he told me when I first got diagnosed to try watching Disney films to see if I cheered up! It was the eating disorder team who want to change it but I feel really quite dependant on them even though theyre aren't doing much xx

Hey, I’ve been on Sertraline since December 2015 and have been on 200mg for a year and a half. From my experience I have found that staying away from drugs and alcohol, and doing group work ie cbt, therapy sessions really helped. The meds can only do so much on their own and giving them help by working on yourself one day at a time will help your recovery from your illness. I refused antipsychotic meds and just stuck with sertraline. Ask for help, believe you can get better, find others who are suffering from the same illness and most of all talk about it. You can and will get better. Lots of love x

300 is much to high I am on 200 that is the maximum dose. If you are still not feeling good and still self harming you need to go back to your GP. I don’t feel great but after reading outher reviews I think mine is down to drinking too much alcohol.

I know what you mean, I think it would be easier if I could find something to calm me down other than tablets. My gp is a waste of time but will keep going. Hope you're ok hun xx
