Sertraline dosage

Hi! My doctor prescribed 50mg of sertraline for two weeks then to up my dose to 100mg. I am on day 4 of the 50mg and I am having bad side effects so far. I'm worried that once they start to pass it will be time for me to up the dosage to 100mg. Has anyone gone through additional side effects when they upped their meds?

    Hi I also started on 50mg and have increased twice, 100 and 150. Each time I've increased i had side effects but they werent as bad as the initial ones. But everyone reacts differently so you may not get any.

    Hi when your first start sertraline the first few weeks are the hardest and then when you up the dose the feelings come back but not as bad as the start up anxiety is usually high but slows down everyone's different but from what I've read some people feel better after 2weeks and some people it can take up to 12 weeks but once you've got though the hard times thing will get better try not to be hard on your self and take it day by day and keep telling yourself this is normal if you need to talk you can private message me x

      Thank you so much. I took sertraline a few years ago but I started with Paxil and that really messed me up. I was like a zombie so I feel like the initial sertraline side effects didn't seem as bad. This time around they suck. My doctor prescribed xanax to help with the bad times until the meds start working. I'm staying strong and just keep telling myself that it will get better. My mom suffered from panic and depression at my age so I'm staying with her so I have her for support to get through the rough patches. I'm just hoping it doesn't take 12 weeks to kick in.

    I started on 25 mg for a month then went to 50 mg.  After a week on the 50 mg I started feeling like I was in a bubble again.  I take 25 mg in the morning then cut a 25 mg in half, I take only a half at night - total 37.5 mg.  I feel really good after a couple months on this combination.  I wish you to feel better, maybe your medication is too strong.

      Thank you! Last night was horrible. I couldn't sleep at all. I don't want to stop taking the meds but I don't know if I can make it with these side effects. I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor.

    Hi Amanda I've been on 100mgs for years then been on 150 for 24days now still got anxiety and not sleeping very well but been told can take up to 6 to 8 wks to level out x

      Wow 6-8 weeks sounds like an eternity! Maybe I just need to toughen up and deal with it but it's such a scary feeling. Why did you go from 100mg to 150mg after all that time?

      Hi hun I increased sertraline cause doc made a mistake on tablets he gave me and it brought panic attacks bk x

    Hi Amanda, yes im getting more anxiety on the 100mg but its only been just over a week on the higher dose so im hoping it will pass, my sleep is terrible though. i just feel like stopping them altogether to be honest im exhausted with the lack of sleep.

      I agree! Last night was rough. I think I may just continue taking the 50mg for a bit and see if that's enough for me. Still waiting to hear from my doctor. He gave me xanax to help and last night that was the only way I could fall asleep. Do you have any other side effects?

      my stomach as been bad and increased anxiety, i also get times where my heart races for a few seconds but that might just be down to the anxiety. ive got diazepam but not strong enough i take 1 and it dont make a difference

      yes i was taking them to begin with but i started to panic when i took it thinking it was gonna slow my heart down too much, ridiculous i know but thats just how i am at the minute, worrying about everything

      I'm the same way. I worry about everything I take! I postpone taking the xanax because I feel guilty that I need it and can't handle the panic on my own.

      i know what you mean, ive got diazepam 2mg and dont like taking them but i just have to sometimes.
