Sertraline Dose Increase

Hi I started on sertraline 50mg 2 weeks ago and increased this to 100mg on Tuesday.
Since the increase I have gone downhill rapidly. Very shakey, headache, severe anxiety and overwhelming suicidal thoughts and sadness.
I feel emotionally empty and just dead on the inside.
I want more than anything to get better but I don't see a way out of this.
Should I be feeling this way after the dose increase?

Hi Clare
I am literally just back from my gp. I started sertraline 3 days ago and straight away I felt like they where making me worse (I didn't think I could have felt much worse!!) The doc explained to me that these tablets increase or give you the missing serotonin (or something like that!) That is missing. I did ask about dosage n stuff and how long I would be on these and she said to me that she may increase them if I need her too, I asked her about these side effects and she said that when you increase the dosage you go through all the side effects again as that is your body increasing the chemical that is missing or lessened. It's simple as the rush of this chemical going into your brain and your ebony not recognising it.
Try to bear with it
Has ur go gave you and diazepam for the side effects? Might be worth asking for it if not as I have found this has really helped!

Hi Clare, i also started Sertraline 15 days ago on 50mg and have had the worst side effects. My doctor wanted me to up to 100 last night but i did 75mg as i didnt feel happy doubling the dose as i already felt horrendous and i didn't feel any worse today. Maybe you could do that? I do know that moat people have your symptoms, i do and i also have around 5 panic attacks a day on top of it all, so i really feel for you hun x remember it gets worse before it gets better xx
