Hi everyone I've never posted on here but here goes ..

I had been on ciralopram for 2 years 40mg and changed by straight swop 3 weeks ago. My mood has remained fairly stable but my anxiety has sky rocketed ..i am having obtrusive irrational thoughts..the same ones over and over I'm in a constant state of panic like I'm out of control. I can't eat I'm scared all the time ...is this normal ...ive heard it's a really effective drug I'm wanting to hang on in there..seeing the doc tomorrow. Looking for some words of encouragement

Thanks heaps

Kelly

Hi Kelly I was on citalopram for 7 years and swapped to sertraline 6 weeks ago after the citalopram stopped working, I was in a constant state of panic and really bad anxiety. I started sertraline at 50mg for a week then 100mg for 3 weeks then after that 150mg. It's a slow working drug, I've had 3 months of hell, honestly every waking moment was pure hell...anyways the panic attacks have gone (i was having panic attacks at least 10 times or more and day) anxiety is slowly got better too, but sertraline could take up to 6 -8 weeks on the same dose to work so please bare with it I know what you are going through, take each day at a time and I promise it will get better x

    Hi Kellyfreddie7

I can relate to what you're saying as I'm exactly the same. The thoughts are so bad I can't think of nothing else even though I know in worrying over nothing , just some horrible thoughts pop in my head and I obsess over them. I can't eat either but hopefully things will get better soon. I'm on 50mg sertraline for 3 weeks now, and see doctor again next week. Just try to stick with it and hopefully there will be an improvement for both of us soon. Let me know how you get on at docs tomorrow. Take care xx

It’s awful when you first start but it does get better over time, I’m on 150mg at the mo. I had an anxious episode at 3am this morning which I’m obsessing about today. Its different to before tho, less severity of the physical anxiety attack symptoms. I have noticed I’m able to challenge the thoughts more, they are not on constant loop. I’m eating better, able to function better. No where near back to myself but not everyday is living in fear with horrible feelings.

I worked my way up to 150mg a couple of years ago and after a couple of months on the 150mg I was fully recovered so I really hoping it does the job this time to.

Stay strong and keep us posted on how your getting on x

Ladies you have given me hope ..the hardest part is sticking with it when you feel like you're going crazy!! I am thinking the most bonkers thoughts! On loop...it hard to pin hope tgat a tablet will help improve it and it will get better. Just sat at the doctors I'll keep you posted. I've heard sertraline is good ...what I notice though is I did a straight swop so it's probably no wonder my anxiety is through the roof! You're all so kind thanks for responding .. x
