Sertraline for Anxiety

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have suffered with Anxiety for over 10 years but usually on a day to day basis I manage fine, apart from 6 years ago when I had a bad patch and didn't leave the house for 2 months. I got through that drug free and only had anxiety attacks in social situations like going the theatre or bars etc.

For the last month or so I have struggled daily with the anxiety to the point it got so bad, especially the physical symptoms that I almost had a breakdown.

I finally agreed to start Sertraline 25mg and 80mg of Propranolol. I'm now on day 9. I have had a few small side effects but nothing compared to what I was worried about. Anyway, my anxiety has subsided quite a lot but today I have a really bad headache and my head feels like it has bricks in it it's so heavy. I thought the side effects would be going by now, not getting different ones. Does anyone have any advice or experience of this please?? Thank you in advance.

Yep setreline does come with headaches. Been on it 5 years.also you may realise that sometimes.you may feel very easy with life.therefore you may also think about buying stuff that can't afford..Setreline seems to me to give that affect.

I do that anyway. I have a bit of a shopping addiction. How long did your side effects last? I'm. On day 9 and haven't been that bad with side effects. Bit of nausea, clamping my teeth together and now a bit of a bad belly but apart from that it's been ok. I'm hoping I feel the full affects of them soon.

    Hi Amy,

First and foremost I think its important to call your doctor's office and ask to speak to them or a nurse. I would explain my symptoms and get their opinion on it.

But from my experience with Sertraline, I take 4 weeks to stabilize on it. I don't know about Propranolol so I can't say.

Staying in touch with your doctor is important for the recovery process. I know sometimes that's hard because I didn't and let a hypomanic episode ruin my life for a year.

Good luck! And I hope your headache gets better smile

Firstly I agree with the opinion, keep in touch with your doctor. I still suffer with head tightness a etcetera but have learned to live with it; probanly shouldnt!

I suffered numerous side effects without even realising that wh to hey were because I avoid the necessary consultations. Start the right way and you will suffer so much less!

Secondly I was on propanol (sp?) and found it very helpful.

Thirdly it does take time for meds to settle.
