Sertraline - Frequent blips and very upset

Posted , 5 users are following.

I suffered from depression in 2015 and was prescribed a daily dose of 50mg sertraline. After about 10 days everything settled down and I came off them in November 2017. However, in July this year the depression/anxiety reappeared and for the first 4 weeks I was again prescribed 50mg and after 6 days was fine. Then I had 2 serious blips about 10 days apart. After a month my dose was increased to 100mg daily and for 12 days I've been fine, but for the last 2 days I've felt very weepy and anxious. To anyone who is able to offer any advice as to whether this is normal I'd be immensely grateful. Is it just a coincidence that all my blips are between 10 - 12 days apart. It's very upsetting because just as I think I've turned a corner my symptoms return. I'm supposed to be going abroad this week and am scared of feeling this way whilst I'm away.

I'm on 100s too and i've been feeling down for the last three days but the last time I felt like this I had a period a week later so i'm wondering if it's that. It could be hormone fluctuations but we'll see.

I know this may sound superficial, but just try to remember what its like for the anxiety to gonaway. Think some of the thoughts you normally do when youre having a good time. Remind yourself how you feel doesnt dictate what you do.

Im in a similar situation to you, i am having good days followed by bad days and the only thing I can hold onto is the fact that it will pass.

    Hi ,

I ve been on Sertraline 200mg about 13months now  and I still have bad days here and there and some months I have more bad days from others.

According to my psychiatrist this is normal as we are very vulnerable during this period so we can be affected easily from everything which is going on around us .

I will agree with someone above who said that you need to remind yourself that you also have good days and this is not going to last forever.

    Hope you feel better soon.
