Hey Emma, it's because u have upped the dose so u will get the initial side effects again. They should ease within the next 7-10 days but it's only been 12 days since u Started and it can take between 4-12 weeks as sertraline takes a while to works it's magic, but u should start to see the benefits very soon. Good luck and keep me posted how u r doing. I am on day 21 of 50mg and feeling a lot better to how I was before but like u I am still getting anxiety just not as bad it was, so I'm going to give it another few weeks and see about upping myself, take care Hun and always think positive thoughts, u will be where u want soon x

Hey dawn, my harsh side effects lasted 7-10 days then they lessened, I have no other side effect apart from a little anxiety creeping every now and then but it is def more tolerable than before starting. My mood has lifted but like I said just abit of panic still there, I'm on propranolol aswell 40mg twice a day but was on 40mg 3x a day so I have cut down on that since being on sertraline so must be a good thing. I'm going to give it another 3 wks and if anxiety is still there I will ask to be upped to 75mg. The side effects I had were........ Dizzy, loss of appetite, feeling sick, bad tummy, dry mouth, headache, heightened anxiety. But I must say I used rescue remedy aswell for the bad days and I learnt how to knit which has really helped control the anxiety, so maybe get into a hobby ie a puzzle, knitting, word search , or anything crafts as it will take your mind off it and also if u get the loss of appetite replacement shakes help, u can get them in tesco, asda for £4 a tub and u just add it to milk, also eat when your watching TV as that takes your mind off feeling sick when u eat and drink lots. I take my sertraline just I'm getting in bed and I have no problem with sleep. Let me know how your getting on and if u need a chat I'm here x

Hey Emma, yeh because u have upped the dose u will be feeling heightened anxiety because it has to start working again like in the beginning of starting on them, but I have read that 100mg is good and that's the normal dose, normally 50mg is the starting dose then 100mg is what most people go on and stay on. Like I said to dawn on my last post try and occupy your mind with a hobby for a few days just to get u through it, but to be honest I think by the end of this week u will be feeling a hell of a lot better, the anxiety might be there a little but in the next few weeks I think u will be where u want to be. Sertraline is a slow one but it works wonders from what I have read on it's reviews, take care and if u need a chat I'm here x

    Hi Emma,

When I started on it many years ago, it was very slow to help.  Seems to be standard for Sertraline.  Ask your doctor, but it may take awhile longer.

For Anxiety -- you need to be taking another med.  I was given Ativan, now taking Lorazepam (the cheaper generic).  I have problems finding a generic of Ativan that truly has the right elements to ease anxiety ... aaaargh.

So PLEASE talk to your doctor about length of time needed for Sertraline to help.  AND make sure he gives you an RX for an anxiety Med.  Sertraline is not good for that. biggrin Good luck.
