Posted , 3 users are following.

today is the start of the 4th week of sertraline 50mg. ive been prescribed this for intrusive thoughts. i had been feeling some progress but the last few days ive had extremely dark thoughts thinking 'i want to die' and no matter how i try to rasionlise and assure myself i dont it keeps coming back with extreme anxiety. just looking for some reassurance its just a blip. i did have this during the first week of the tablets but this faded within a few days. just been a real rollercoaster and cant seem to see an end to it 😦

Hang in there! I would call your doc and see what the next step will be. Every time i increased to 50mg i get severe chest pains. So I've been on 25mg for over a year. I went to TMS for 36 treatments and feel a little better. That was a very expensive procedure that im still paying for. I still get negative thoughts too. I try not to dwell on them. I redirect my think to something else. Picture clouds in the sky are thoughts and as they go by just adknowlege them don't label just let them drift away. Always remember their just thoughts and stories are mind makes up. None of that is real it can not hurt you!!! Think of something very happy that has happened to you and hold on to that thought.

Try to find a utube clip for guided meditation and get some good head phones and just listen and relax. Sometimes you can get guided hypnosis sessions too.

    Good luck and God bless

Matt, yes, hang in there. This drug is sloooooow to work, and there are a lot of roller coaster ups and downs along the way as you have noted. This is a good article: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/shannonrosenberg/things-you-should-know-about-being-medicated-for-mental

Also remember - you're not alone. We're with you! And you WILL get better. xo
