Sertraline - is it worth it, does it work ?
Posted ,
Hi guys, I've just registered, I was hoping to get some reassurance or perhaps some experiences with Sertraline.
My Doctor started me on sertraline 50mg daily to treat upset / social anxiety - 23 days ago now ( just over 3 weeks ). - the first 7 days I felt even more on edge, had an upset stomach and diarrhea - not nice at all. It settled down after a while though.
It has now been raised to 100mg daily because I have felt little benefit from it. As soon as the dose was raised today, I have felt pretty crappy, upset stomach and just not feeling good at all.
Is it really worth it ? Does Sertraline really work or even help ?
It concerns or confuses me when I am told that I have to give it time to work, that the bad symptoms will pass and then I will feel better.
The medication seems to have good reviews and success stories... I'm just worried I am wasting my time and health - I keep having days off College and it worries me its all for nowt.
Hope someone can shine a light on my concerns, thanks guys.
David

Do you remember how you felt before taking sertraline and now during, is there a definite benefit to taking it ? ( sorry if this seems a silly question )

It took about 3/4 weeks to calm me down but I was lucky and suffered from none of the side effects that you have.
Would definately see your GP again, if you are unhappy and concerned.
No matter what drug i was on, I always felt far better after some good amounts of exercise.
Wish you well.. Joe
