sertraline itchy skin and blurred vision

Hi I am on lustral 100 mg.  I have gradually increased over the last 10-11 weeks.  I do feel better depression and anxiety wise but still not 100%.  I have noticed rashes over my skin and it is incredibly uncomfortable.  I've noticed  that my eyesight has become slightly blurred also. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, does it subside?

Hi chris, iam also on 100mg.when I first started taking sertaline I also had blurred vision, it subsided after a while.might take you a bit longer due to having your dose increased over short periods . Fortunetly i never experienced rashes, think you would be best to speak to your gp about that one.good luck chris, hope you get your health back soon!!!

Been on sertaline for over 4 years.took about 3 months for everything to settle down, after each dose increase over the years.now I actually forget iam on anything, compared to when I was first on them and had several worrying side effects.it all takes time, just keep on top of your side effects and report them to your gp.

Hi chris, I'm 8 wks on sert. Can't say I've had the blurred vision but have had various side effects on and off but crucially, none have lasted too long. Altho I haven'thadrashes, I've definitely had itchy skin, I wake up scratching my hands and arms. A weird one ive noticed this week is bruising...I'm spotting big bruises and can't recall how they occurred...may be just coincidence!!

I think we just have to do our best to focus long term and trust these side effects won't last too long...best wishes x

Not going to lie, it's been a rocky road with sert, unfortunately it undoubtedly made me worse at the start but today is the beginning of week 9 and I'm now feeling somewhat on an even keel. Still not out of the woods, I still get instrusive thoughts. But ive alao found propranolol to be a huge help in terms of blocking all the physical reactions to anxiety. Wishing u well

Hi, yes I had similar side effects but it does get better. I'm still struggling to sleep and suffer With upset stomach. I feel this is a small problem when I look back to a life without Sertraline. Hope this helps ... X

I have been on sertraline since Monday - never had an antidepressant before and the doc put me straight on 100mg.

I have had blurred vision, felt really sick on and off.

Sometimes cant sleep and other times cant stay awake.

I am starting sertraline, had some tough days dealing with the too fast tapering of venlafaxine but seeing light now, been on 25mg sertraline since last week, crossing over with the venlafaxine.  Taking my sertraline at night so I sleep through worse side effects.  I hope this is the antidepressant for me

    hi chris,

yes i have the blurred vision and i get electric shocks up and down my legs too especially when i'm really tired, when i first started taking them i got really bad migranes, they have got better, but i still do get them from time to time :-) i'm on 150mg and feeling much better and more in control on this dosage now. i've been on sertraline for a year in January, id struggled with depression terribly for many years before that and tried other AD's but none worked for me, sertraline is by far the best medication i've had to get my depression under control, i'm more myself again now :-)
