Sertraline lowering desire to drink alcohol

I have been on sertraline for about 10 years 50 mg then about 4 years ago GP increased to 100mg about this time I started to go off drinking alcohol. I used to enjoy wine and a glass every now and again was my way of chilling after work or weekends. I am missing it but just don't like the taste and wonder if anyone else has experienced going off drink?
I also suffer everyday with palpitations which are really annoying. I have read through some threads on here and have decided to cut down on my dose and the last week have been on 50mg will stay on this for another week before lowering further. I just want to get back to "me" or normal enjoying the odd drink or two! and also importantly sex life back on track as I may as well be a nun!
I really would like to hear from anyone with similar problems
Thanks guys

I only started sertraline 50mg two weeks ago and have gone off alcohol. I want to be able to enjoy it, but I don't like the taste and when I did have a couple of glasses one night I felt as though I'd had a whole bottle the following day, so am now avoiding it. I also find that sertraline dehydrates me and I have a constant headache because of this.

Hi Evergreen,
I read your post on here from 3 years ago about Remeron and how you gained weight on it. I justed started it and gained 10 kg within a month! After building a tolerance to Welbutrin, I switched to Remeron and for the first time in years I actually felt happy .... until the weight problem started and it started cancelling out any happiness. I've read Remeron messes with leptin levels and that may cause the weight gain. So I tried lo carb but it didn't work that well. Did you go off Remeron and replace it with Sertraline or are you taking both?

Interesting post. Generally I associate a drink with socializing and that has been nil fir the past 2 months. Just been on Sertraline for 7 weeks and just the last 2 days at 75mg. Last weekend I had a beer and felt fine but just an hour ago I tried a glass of red wine and the taste was off then about after an ounce I could feel some of that chest tightness return so ended up handing the glass to my hubby.
