Sertraline Migraines and Headaches?

Posted , 3 users are following.

So I started Sertraline 50mg I was 6 days in and from the second day started to get really bad Migraines which I've never had before. Like my head throbbing on one side it hurt when I would stand up and just pressure in my head doing things I had to have an ice pack on my head constantly.

phoned my gp she told me to come off them for 2 days and restart on 25mg . I'm due to start them again today. she told me stopping them for 2 days should get rid of the Migraines. But I've still had constant dull headaches since.

Is this normal? has anyone else got experiences with this? I'm hoping it will calm down Restarting them today.

    Hi,

Ive been on & off sertraline for about 10 years now, Ive actually restarted them today. head aches are very common as the chemicals in your brain balance out. Sounds like she is trying to reduce the amount in your body (2 days rest) to the start you on a lesser dose, tapering you onto them.

Have faith, these side effects do subside. My usual one i suffer with at the beginning is dry mouth, like my mouth is full of cotton wool!

    Take care

I'm on week 6 sertraline its a real roller-coaster of effects. I was diagnosed with a major depression , off work. Today is the first day i feel more like my old self , yesterday i was feeling awful withdrawn .My major concern at present is sleeping , i will wean myself off stimulants

coffee and cigarettes , as yes in my despair i started to smoke cigarettes due to my despair.

i reconfirmed my return to work in 10 days so i hope my return is not in haste , as i was really in a awful place.

i am confident that after coping with awful side effects this episode will be behind me.

i hope this thread resonates as this awful illness really is debilitating
