Hi All
Im 40 and have recently moved to a new job with far more accountability for leading a team within a large organization.
WOW I cant sleep as Im racing constantly I’ve been to see the Doc and he tried Propranolol but that did nothing. He told me to complete a questionnaire and told me that I was very depressed !!! This was a shock but prescribed me Sertraline 50mg and Ive been taking for several days. I feel on planet nausea, feel heart beating in chest, talking & thinking quickly. I feel worse that before and wondered if any of you helpful people could shed any light. Shall I dump the Sertraline too
Thanks

Give it a month and then check back with your doctor if you still havent felt better. He might look into upping your dose.

Just wanted to add my experience:
I initially tried citalopram and to be honest thought it was going to kill me! Had awful side effects, skippy dreams, panic attacks, shakiness, sickness - you name it! It turned out this wasn't the drug for me and the doctor withdrew me from it.
I then started sertraline with, as you can imagine, quite a lot of fear and trepidation after my first experience. For the first two weeks it was awful - dreadful nausea and feeling anxious, and insomnia. But after 2 weeks things started to pick up and after a month I was feeling great. Now I feel calm and much more logical about things which used to feel like the end of the world, and I have more drive and energy than I did when the depression was bad. I'm not only \"coping\" with but loving a fairly stressful job. Be prepared to up your dosage once you've got used to it - after a couple of months my doctor upped my dosage and it helped.
Keep an open mind. It could be that like me and citalopram this is the wrong drug for you in which case hopefully you'll find something else that works. But alternatively it could be that it's just taking a while, and hopefully soon the side effects will calm down and you'll get the benefits of it.
Best of luck
Ann
