Hi I went on 50mg sertraline in octiber and after feeling like it was r working I got upped to 100mg in Jan. Near 8 weeks later and my anxiety is still so bad and don't feel any changes. Do I ask to increase the dose. I feel like nothing will work for me.

I personally didn't feel better until I upped to 200 mg; not perfect but certainly better than I was. It took about three months on this dose before I could say I felt happy again.
If not working after a few months on a higher dose, I would see the doctor for a re-think.

My doc told me that for severe depression and anxiety 150-200mg is the usual dose.

Hi Jen, I started Sert 8th October last year and slowly went up to 200mg. I suffered with very bad depression and anxiety. It's my 8th week on 200mg and I am better than I was. I am 70% myself at my best and anxiety is more related to being impatient and wanting to feel myself again. I feel like I am improving but very slowly so maybe you need to up your dose soon. I agree, this waiting is horrible. Sert is my 3rd antidepressant so I am not keen on changing as I have improved so far so I believe I still will within the next few weeks.

Thanks so much. How do u feel on 200mg as I know someone who said they constantly felt spaced with it. Ive never tried anything else this is my first medication as a friend convinced me to go to the docs. Xx

Do suffer with low mood as well? Thankfully I don't feel spaced out on SERT 200 but I was on my previous med VENLAFAXINE. Maybe 200 was to much for your friend? I hope it kicks in more soon and I feel somewehere near 100%.

Yea I do. Feeling a little bit worse than usual at the moment so it's quite frustrating. Xx

If your mood is low maybe upping would be a good solution. Do you live on the UK? Is your GP helpful? How often do you see your doc for a review?

Yea I live in the UK. My gp was so understanding and listened to me. I've only been back once and that's when I felt the 50mg done nothing so she upped it. She told me to come back after a couple of month on 100mg so a couple of weeks and I'm due back for a review.
I know alot of people who's lives have changed from sertraline so I think I was probably expecting a miracle. But I have been like this since as long as I can remember x

be careful with your dose - its been proved that going above 50 has Very little benefit compared to the side effects and delays it woeking, this is becasue 50mg will shut off 80% of the reuptake receptiors - which would be enough for most people, - a lot of people who go up to high does and report success would have probably got there quicker on lower does, as going up is like starting all over again, so you're at 100 so ypur receptors are pretty much compeltey covered, just waiting for your brain to rewire - this can take months!! im in the process too and its a waiting game - currnetly im getting bad anxiety in the afternoon so i take something to calm me down as the rest of the day im pretty ok , hoping was the sert kicks in i wont need it any more x

Yes, you are absolutely right and if your depression/anxiety has been very severe it takes longer... I am in my 21st week and still not 100% but much better than I was.

My doc says that it takes 8 weeks for the full effect so I think I'm going to finish the tablets I have then go back. Did the doc say u became immune or something. Maybe it's just trial and error but it's so frustrating when you feel like this daily. Good luck I hope the prozak works for u x
