For me, antidepressants takes about 10 months to see improvement to enjoy my life. I am taking Duloxetine and increased dose from 20 mg to 120 mg. So, if in general, you have improvement compare to before taking Setraline, it means the med works, but not enough dosage.
I added Abilify to Duloxetine. I feel much better.
Do you have any benzodiazepines?

Go back and see your Dr. Diazepam and Lorazepam are life savers when you start on antidepressants and go up the doses. If you're careful not to abuse them they really help. I think you're issue is you are on too low a dose of Sertraline. The lower doses are good for depression but you need at least 150mg to sort out extreme anxiety like GAD.

What is mirt that you take at night for?
It is hard to deal GAD without benzodiazepines. My doctor is different, he said Xanax is a good medication, just don't take more than describe. I took 3 pill 0.25 mg Xanax every day for 8 months. I am not addicted. Now, I feel better, I take one pill or two a day.
Maximum of Sertraline is 200 mg. I know people take 200 mg plus buspar.
Fighting with this illness is a long long time.

Lee I've been on this med for about a year for anxiety. 8 months of that year I've been on 100 mg. I didnt really start feeling good until about 6 months into medication. It just takes time. We want to feel better so bad that everyday we are waiting for it. Makes the wait agonizing. My advice is to give it 2 more months on 100. It took me a good 3 months on 100 before I felt better. Of course everyone is different. Maybe it wont be as long for you. But I have found the problem is not usually the dose being too low, but people dont give it enough time. Hang in there. I really hope you get your life back soon.

Hi Lee.
My side effects last nearly 12 months on Sert, some improvement but never quite made it, I was moved from Citlapram to Sert.
At my surgery saw a Mental Health Practioner not a Dr. who put me on Venlafaxine
for one week I took 50 mg Sert and 37.5 Ven on the same day.
2nd week NO Sert and 2 × 37.5 Venlafaxine, few head aches, nothing too bad, felt bit more tired.
after a month felt my mood lift, now able to cope without panic , occasionally bit anxious if a problem arise.
so this is working for me.
I did have hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy which I paid for which helped but didn't cure, but it wasn't until I had Ven that I help better.
I take it in the morning my head feels a bit tight and sleepy but couple hours I'm fine and cope all day. Good Luck getting sorted.
