Sertraline. One year after

Posted , 3 users are following.

I was on Sertraline for about a year following a mild bout of depression bought on from losing the last of my birth family.

I feel better about life now, and for me Sertraline helped along with some counseling. Not perfect, but I'm the same person and can rationalize bad feelings a bit more.

Towards the end of my treatment I found that it had destroyed my libido. That has now returned to whatever is normal for a near 60 year old!

The most noticeable difference is that i find that my enjoyment of food and drink is reduced as many things now taste bland. In particular, my enjoyment of good quality beer has gone. I respected the not drinking alcohol during the treatment, and have resumed drinking albeit very moderately. I actually like the non alcoholic beers just as much or more.

Has anyone else found that their taste and enjoyment of food and drinks have changed?

    Hi PJ,

My taste and appetite went whilst I was on Sertraline, I dropped 10kg and was not overweight to start with.

My weight thankfully is now normal my taste and appetite is back and my anxiety is manageable and I have been off meds all year.

    All the best to you
