Sertraline or Citalopram

Hi, I've been on Sertraline 50mg for about 8 months when GP took me off because of pain in my ancles and wrists. GP suggested Citalopram 20mg instead. I am off from Sertraline for 2 months and I cannot cope with the depression. I am not sure what is better now: to go back to Sertraline of to start Citalopram? Does anyone have similar experience? Did you go through the side effects even when restarting therapy?

I've just changed from citalopram to sertraline only because I'd been on it so long it had stopped working. I found citalopram start up was much easier than sertraline. I'm 6 months into sertraline and still not right!!!

citalopram side effects are horrible for me bt we are not the same out bodies react differently im taking buspirone for my anxiety and i felt a difference on day 3 its amazing .. i took citalopram 3 years ago and it didnt work fast enough and i had horrible side effects than they told me to conbine it with buspirone and i felt the difference right away ... i was on those 2 meds for 1, 1/2 year and i stop taking them ... unfortunally my anxiety came back 3 weeks ago .. i ask for buspirone bt they didnt listen to me so they gave me citalopram 10mg and the second , third , fourth and fifht day were horible side effects so they told me to stop citalopram and they gave me buspirone and i can feel almost normal again ... no more anxiety attacks !!!

I was on 20mg Citlapram for a few years but still struggled with low mood / depression.
Last August after a family trauma
I was put on 50mg Sertraline which helped better than Citlapram but I was still low, been on 100mg Sert few months now , the side effects in the beginning was bad I still struggle some days,
Im now going privately with Hypnosise / Counselling and improving with this combination.
I still get Head aches and tight feel in my head which could be the depression or tablets.
My friend is on 30mg Citlopram and doing well
so perhaps it would be worth you trying it.
Depression Nerves are crap . Iv been told its caused by a combo of inheritance and enviroment and up bringing.
Your not alone there are thousands of us living with it.
Keep going . Try to keep your mind occupied hobbies etc
Good Luck..
