Sertraline Orgasm difficulty

I'm a 30 year old male and I've been prescribed Sertraline 50mg for the first time. I've never been on an antidepressant before. It's been 2weeks and I'm still having difficulty having an orgasm during sex or masturbation. I know this is a common side effect but I just wanted to know from others did this side effect go away or is it permanent. I am going to continue my treatment for a few more months but if the orgasm difficulties continue I will need to consider lowering my dose or switching SSRI's.

    I switched my drugs last wk for exact same reasons along with shakes, been put on fluoxetene but this don't stop my anger and depression issues.

    Hi Dex,

    I've been in Sertraline 50mg for Four weeks, and I can honestly say after Two to Three weeks, a OK. I wouldn't worry too much, even though it is one of the side effects, it should pass 🖒

    I've been on Sertraline for about 12 weeks now & although there's nothing wrong with my libido. Orgasm is no longer part of my life 😢I have been on several antidepressants and this side effect has always worn off eventually. My fingers are firmly crossed that this will happen again. To be fair though at the moment my mental health is in way more need of attention. I hope things pick up for you soon xx

    That was definitely an issue when I was on it. The meds are supposed to help make life better, but not having any happy endings certainly doesn't make anything better. For some people, this side effect goes away or gets better in time, others aren't so fortunate.

    If you've only been on the meds for a couple weeks, it's still too early to tell whether that side effect will linger or move out. If yours lingers, talk to your doctor about it, and your meds will probably be switched. Sometimes it takes trial and error to get it right with medication.

    Thanks for the replies. It's been 2 weeks and still no change but I'll continue treatment for a while to see if there's any improvement.

    This is as you mentioned a common side effect I found I could w**k for 45 minutes and nothing would happen. It was quite destressing I can confirm that a few days after stopping the medication I was back to normal. Don't just stop though always talk to your doc.

    I bought a stamina trainer fleshlight to get me off in the meantime also a VR headset for VR porn. Combined that extra simulation helped a lot.
