On friday i did this and my body went into an absolute meltdown my brain exploded with the worst i was so weak i couldnt move, sweats, shaking and i was even close to ringing an ambulance. Saturday i was too scared too take another one so i went without and i was absolutely fine all day more energy, good apetite and friendly with people except the parking warden that kept leeching around my car i told to f off lol. Can anyone help me on this matter, im really confused whether i should carry on or not, im even starting to fink am i actually depressed or is this mind control?

    Hi

I would have thought maybe the dose needs to stay the same and/or introduced to your body more slowly rather than doubled at this stage. I am no doctor though. Anyway I introduced 50mg sertraline to my body over a four week period and hardly experienced any side efftects-though I understand that everybody's different. I took one quater of the tablet for a week; half for two weeks; then the whole thing.

My feeling is however to decide to administer it, stick with it. Let us know how you get on.

    Good luck!

Thanks, all i can say is when i doubled the dose friday i was a total mess so i think your right im sticking to one a day, doctors are meant to help you not make the issue worse it just goes to show the doctor cant even relate to the problem and certainly didnt help me. Slowly is the best way my body clearly isnt use to them..

Ryan, I was exactly the same. I ended up in hospital convinced the tablets were having some bad effect on me. The dr there gave me some Valium for the short term to help me get used to it. I tried not to take them as much as possible but I was in a bad way for a number of weeks. It's helped a lot though so I'm so glad I stuck with it. Take care Ryan, no one said it would be easy!

Hi Ryan, sorry, I have been away for a few days. I tried not to take much Valium (although I ended up getting four perscriptions for 28 tablets so I must have been using it regularly enough). I didn't specifically use it to sleep, the sertraline made me really tired for the first two weeks, or maybe it was the come-down from the anxiety. I wanted to sleep all the time. I was scared to be awake because I felt so bad.I stuck with it though. The alternative was probably being admitted to the hospital or worse. I just couldn't cope with anything any more. Over the weeks I started to feel more steady. I took time off work to get myself together. I didn't leave the house for about 2.5 weeks. I couldn't eat, I lost a stone. The sweats and the shaking were a nightmare in themselves. I still get heightened anxiety, but for me knowing that it doesn't turn into massive attacks let's me get on with life, for the most part. I've only slipped into depression once or twice for a few days but I've pulled myself out of it. I'm back at work, up to my eyes busy. I can drive, I can cook and clean again. I don't go out much though but I'm hoping to be fully back to normal soon. I've been on the sertraline since Easter and on the 100mg since May. Hope this helps.

Ryan, I am on my 15 day and for the first 12 days I had lost of appetite and no desire to do anything. My appetite is back but still feel weird, specially during the day ( night is better ). I have to go to my doctor in 10 days but I will not increase from 50 mg.

I've been told it takes 3/4 weeks to make effect, for instance my brother was on it for a year with an overall good experience. That's why I am still hanging on.  Maybe you want to wait more before withdrawal or increasing the dose. Good luck.

Hiya, I had a similar really bad start with sertraline, started on 50mg and was awful, thought was losing my mind from the insomnia etc. the doc dropped me to 25mg after 7 days and stayed on that for 8 days and had no side effects. Also have me diazepam just in case but in honesty not really needed it. I'm now 3 days back on 100mg and no side effects just usual anxiety but I know this will lessen over next few weeks.

It's scary at first but go back to docs and drop your dose and get them to ease you into it. It's just your body freaking out a bit and some people are more

Sensitive to this drug at first than others.
