Sertraline side effects

Posted , 5 users are following.

I've been diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and started on sertraline 50mg a week ago. I'm finding it hard to cope with the side effects of this medication. Constant dizzyness, nausea, feeling really spaced out, anxiety so bad I can't leave the house. I'm due to go back to work next week and I don't think I will be able to if I still feel like this. I'm finding it hard to even stand up! Is this normal? Will the benefits be worth it? I feel like I made a mistake starting on this medication and now I don't know what to do.

Usually it will go away after 2 weeks. You have completed 7 days it should ease as the days goes.

I am in the same boat and i am on day 5 of the increase of seroxat and the side effects are killing me and my work in 10 days.

    Hi Sarah,

im also on sertraline for anxiety I'm on 100mg and I've had dizziness myself along with headaches depression/suicidal thoughts and fatigue. I feel they're not helping me too as I'm that bad I have a support worker at college who meets me at the train station and stays with me until I jump back on the train to go home. I spoke to my tutor and she was on them too, she reccomended me to ask for another medication as they're known to be not effective. Are you coping ok at work emotionally though? it could be your anxiety giving you these symptoms. Everyone is different and gets different things happening with anxiety. I think you should go back to your doctors and tell him/her how you feel and about your dizziness and nausea. Don't stop taking them suddenly tho! I did it, and I got really bad and wouldn't leave the house. They honestly make me so weird I'll be glad to get off them.

Hi Sarah, keep with it. The sertaline takes at least 6-8weeks to take effects. The side effects should start to ease off. Mine took 1-2weeks to start to ease but everyone is different. Do you have anything to help with the side effects your experiencing? Xxx

Sorry your struggling... Just a thought though.. I have the constant dizzyness, nausea and spaced out but i am not on any of the meds.... mine is all the physical symptoms of the anxiety...

Its catch 22 .... I found faking it till i made it going back to work really worked.. And most of th symptoms went away because i was distracted from my thoughts.

But if it is the meds hopefully they will settle down soon.

Ginger tea for the nausea...Telling my self its just anxiety when i go dizzy... and i am Still working on the spacey head 🤓xx
