Hi, i suffer from health Anxiety and have been for the last 2 years.. at first i could handle it because it wasn't affecting my daily life.. over the last 6 months ive increase physical symptoms... headache, dizziness palpitations, neck ache, chest pains, concentration problems, nausea, forgetfulness, adrenaline rushes, shortness of breath, physically drained, hot/cold flashes, trouble swallowing food, heatburn, pressure in my head and ringing in my ears.. my left leg sometimes goes numb (which feels more difficult to control) and uncontrollable twiches

also i have a falling sensation when im falling asleep..

the doctor says all these symptoms are due to my extremely high anxiety levels aswell as worrying when my next panic attack will be.

i am always worrying throughout the day

due to this the DR prescribed me with 50mg sertraline... with in 4-6 hours after i taken my first tablet i started feeling sick, dry mouth and increased anxiety aswell has headache... is this possible? or should i see my doctor?

    Hi Andrew

I started in sertraline several days ago and I could feel the effects relatively quickly, I too had a dry mouth (still do but not as bad), it made me feel drowsy and my head felt tight. I didn't feel more anxious but a lot of people say they do at the start. Stick with it, it gets better. I feel a lot more chilled now and I am not getting irritated and short tempered and my anxiety has subsided. I am feeling lethargic and I have what I would describe as a tension headache. My appetite has reduced but when I get hungry I feel queasy. it is also my first time on medication and currently the positive affects outways the side affects.

    Hi Andrew

Are you a young adult? If so, you must consult your doctor asap. Some antidepressants have a bad effect on young adults. He/she might be able to think of something more effective. Whatever you do though, don't take Seroxat, it's even worse and is murder to come off.

Is there any chance of talking therapy or group therapy for you?

yes i am 25 years old, i have been told it can take a few weeks to take full effect.. i definitely have noticed my anxiety drop.. it is now bearable smile still have anxiety with slight side effects but i have been told they will go away over the next week or so smile only been on the 7 days... was told by the doctor it can take up to 6 weeks.. my appetite has just come back so had a full meal yesterday aswell as more food afterwards.. although i have lost 4lb in weight because ive not eaten all week... ill see how it goes and if the symptoms dont go then ill go back to my gp

im currently on a waiting list for CBT but will have to wait until the new year before i get an appointment.
