Sertraline side effects

Posted , 4 users are following.

So I've been given sertraline because my other medication wasn't working. I've been on it for a little bit and noticed that everything seems extremely quiet. I'm not deaf. I hear everyone just fine. I can't help but talk and pace. I almost feel stir crazy because of how quiet things are right now. I'm sure I can pull through it but I was not expecting it to be so sudden. Is this a possible side effect? Should I feel concerned?

Ohhh man!  How I envy you!  Years ago I took celexa and all the self talk in my head just stopped.  It scared the heck out of me though!  It lasted a few days then all the jibber jabber was back and I was kind of relieved until now/. I would love that back!  I was talking with my 7 year old granddaughter about this the other day and not sure how it came up and I asked her if she was talking in her head at that time and she said “no my brain is resting” lol so think of it as that your brain is getting a much needed rest.  I sure wish I could have that back!  I wonder if that is the ocd component of sertraline.  How much do you take?

I've been started off with 25mg. It just freaked me out that it happened. So it will come back then? I honestly have been enjoying the quiet. I'm glad you replied. Thank you. What is the ocd part? I have a mild ocd. That won't get worse, right?

It’s actually used for OCD so that’s what I think it’s quieting your mind but of course I’m not a doctor so don’t know for sure.  I’m at 50 mgs and wish I had that.  When it happened to me years ago I begged it to come back because it gave me anxiety lol what dose are you going up to?

I believe that I will be going to 50mg. It's interesting to know that it is for ocd. I never really understood what exactly I was dealing with so we are just kind of testing them out. But I definitely agree with you, I feel very anxious again.

I take 100mg for anxiety but I've had really bad side effects tho i am on them 2 months now I've been told it can take 3 months to really see any effect because right now i dont see any improvement.

I have not heard that it takes 3 months but I'm glad you have told me. Does it make your anxiety worse?

The quiet you mean , sounds familiar.. like loneliness and anxiety all round into one in a strange way. I can't find the word to use , but I understand , well I think I understand what u r saying .. !

I hope this is just a short term side effects for us both.
