sertraline symptoms

i have been on sertraline since january and although the horrible symptoms have gone away ive noticed that my short term memory has become awful. als my vision has changed for example: if i look up at a star at night the star seem as if its moving all over the place... also when i first wake up in the morning i have bad double vision and everything seems to be moving aswell but as soon as i wake up properly that goes. does anybody else suffer with this?

Hi, I can relate to the short term memory experience.

However I think you need to see a doctor as a priority! Double vision can be a sign of many things including high blood pressure which can be aggravated by Sertraline.

Please se let us know how you get on.

It can do certainly. But I have also realised recently that Sertraline can increase blood pressure/ cholesterol etc.

Defo foe worth a tele appointment with your doctor at the very least. You can always then follow it up with a visit. They get concerned at the bottom number mostly.../90+

Thomas I've been off sertraline two and a half years now and still suffer from short term memory loss, and vision impairment.  I also had double vision while on the drug, it has now gone, but my vision is still often blurry but clears eventually.

it is amazing after following this blog for about 3 months that very few stories are success stories on sertraline..the long list of short term and long term effects is mind boggling! I am in the process of tapering completely off of sertraline..at 37.5 for one week, then to 25..12.5..then free..what a ride, will find another way to deal with insomnia and mild anxiety..very strong, dependent medication..good luck to all..be careful

also it is so sad, and dangerous, how readily gp's and psychiatrist give this medication out without spelling out the dangers, side-effects, and how hard it is to wean yourself off this medication..I was offered sertraline within 10 mins of talking to a psychiatrist..introduced as a mild form of anti-depressant.."it is considered the mildest ssri "..sure glad I wasn't given the strongest! Beware!

Maureen , I saw a post of yours on an older thread about low blood sugar in the mornings ? Was it due to sertraline and is it better now ? I've only taken 2 pills and had awful side effects including feeling faint / low blood pressure ? In the mornings

Very scary sad I've not taken any more

Works for some not others.  I have a friend on it for 20 years, swears by it.  I had an awful time on it, side affects were horrendous.

I think it's affected my blood pressure , I've felt light headed and as if my blood pressures low each morning since I took it along with freezing cold hands . Plus I felt my anxiety suddenly worsen. I've stopped taking it now but I'm worried as I was hoping it would help me and I worry about taking another anti - d as I always seem to get side effects off any medication I take - super sensitive to it

It does affect your B.P. I had to go on medication and still on it!   Like you i am very sensitve to meds.., did not like the side affects of any i took.   A.D.'s are an individual thing, a trial; and error process to get the right med. and dosage.
