Hello, i would go back to your GP for advice or be referred to a psych who specialises in AD's. 50mg is a low dose of Sertraline even combined with Mirt 15mg. I am on 30mg Mirt and 150mg Sert and now starting to see the light. Best wishes for a recovery. The slight improvements and then no appetite and joy sounds like an increase in Sertraline would help.

I am really sorry to hear that mate. Can you please let us know what the doc say? When are you going back? I feel the same, not much improvement, no joy in anything, zero motivation.. etc. If you need an increase and it helps it might be a solution for me too.. Thank you!

Any change in dose whether up or down normally means a return of side effects but maybe not as bad as originally. We all metabolise these drugs differently and react differently. You quite often have to go through a few weeks or feeling terrible before feeling better again. It is important to keep the faith and persist with the dose change for at least 6 weeks. I was so impatient to get well that i would change dose if i started to feel bad again. I truly believe i would have recovered a long time ago if i had persisted as this is about the 4th time ive tried this dose combination but determined to stay on it as long as it takes this time. I'm now having more good days/periods than bad so really think full recovery is only weeks away. Good luck

I was on 200mg Sertraline for 16 years and completely 100% well. Then they pooped out and stopped working in September 18. Pysch recommended adding on Mirtazapine as an augmentation strategy as the 2 combined have a good track record working together. I started on 15mg Mirt and 200mg Sert and have spent the last 15 months in trial and error in varying the doses of both. I am now on 30mg Mirt and 150 Sert and am finally starting to feel normal again so i believe that i have finally got the dose combination correct.

Lee, did you start off with the 50 mg dose of sertraline? My physician started me with 25 mg. At first, I felt nervous and antsy... but it would pass after about an hour. I kept taking them each day as prescribed. I started taking the sertraline due to frequent heart palpitations. The cardiologist told me they were PVC's and nothing to worry about... that my heart was fine. The palpitations were about to drive me crazy though . My primary care doc said it was probably due to stress and anxiety and recommended an anti-depressant. One of my friends has been taking the Sertraline 50 mg for several months and she's had no problem, so I thought that might work for me too. After a week on the 25 mg, the palpitations were gone. I could handle the hour or so of feeling antsy if the palpitations were gone. Granted, I don't do well on medications. I hate adding a new one, and I hate changing one that works. So after taking the Sertraline 25 mg for 5 weeks, he upped me to the 50 mg. Seemed like that was too much. After a couple of days on the 50 mg, I was feeling very anxious, nervous antsy, and worst of all, the dreaded palpitations came back. So I went back on the 25 mg... it took a couple of days, but then the palpitations stopped. Still the antsy feeling for the 1st hour or so. And some days it is worse, but if the palpitations stay away, I will keep with the 25 mg. I haven't told me doctor that I went back on the 25's yet. I just don't know if taking a higher dose is better or worse... or the lower dose better or worse.

Hi yes started on 50 on my 12th week now still feel rubbish i do should be doing something by now surely if it was going to work on this dose so im thinking i maybe need to increase but scared of side effects again they were awful for weeks. Its trial and error i think we got to find right dose for each person which takes time and effort and thats if they work at all its pure torture.

Trial and error is spot on. Ive been unwell for 14 months and finally making progress now ive upped the Sertraline to 150mg. I chopped and changed too much in desperation. Psych told me to hold tight on Mirt 30 and Sert 150 and not change no matter what. 3 weeks in and really starting to make progress. Keep the faith. I thought i would never get better again this last 14 months...

how have you found coming off Mirtrazepam? Currently on 75mg of sert, anxiety less so but not sleeping. Thought Mirt might help.

thinking about coming of the Sertraline. Can't cope with not sleeping, its adding to my anxiety. Also feel too spacey which im not sure if its the lack of sleep or Sertraline.

Just really had enough of life. Got Drs appointment on Tuesday see what she reckons is best for me to do.

Hi Lee, I found the side effects of increasing from 50mg to 100mg not that different. I went to 75mg for a few days and then up to 100mg. The biggest side effects I experienced were tapering off mirtazapine and starting sertraline at 50mg. Hope you find a combination that works for you. Ed

Have you seen any improvement on 50mg? If you have, you probably just need to increase the dose, but if you haven't seen any improvement at all Sertraline might not be the right drug for you. Having taken it for 12 weeks you have given it a good go.
