Sertraline- Week 6 - It does get better

I promised I’d post if I felt that Sertraline was working and so here goes. 6 weeks ago I was scouring the net for positive stories, side effects, how long they took to work etc and I thought I’d never ever feel any better. I had all the side effects including no appetite, adrenaline rushes, tiredness, yawning constantly, dizziness and the worst of all - insomnia. I was unable to fall asleep or stay asleep due to anxiety. I was on sleep meds which I’ve now reduced and although I’m still not sleeping well I am managing 4-5 hours straight which is a huge improvement. I had also developed panic attacks when driving particularly through tunnels and over bridges and although I haven’t recently tried driving on my own I have been through tunnels with my husband driving and felt no panic at all. I believe my anxiety has decreased massively. Just waiting for my insomnia to improve now. I hope this encourages others to continue the meds as you WILL improve xxx

Honestly it really will improve and I never thought I’d say that. It doesn’t happen over night but gradually. Keep me posted on how you’re getting on x

Yesterday was the first night that I slept with no sleeping aid. Maybe for few hours but that is an improvement for me.
One thing I learned by the forums is that we are all different but I think sertraline can help a lot.
Still early days for me and I hope that I will have a positive story to post too.

Thank you for a positive post!
I'm day 18 (upped dose to 75 4 days ago) and anxiety is through the roof as well as nausea. Did you have any of these side effects?

Yes, I felt so sick I couldn’t eat and lost 5lbs in a week! (Which was welcomed lol). My anxiety was really awful too. I panicked about everything. A couple of things that others said really helped:
1. Don’t let it be more than a tablet which WILL make you better but takes time.
2. Stick with it (took about 4 weeks for me to see some improvement).
3. If you suffer side effects it means the meds are working.
These things helped me. Hope they help you too x

Thank you so much. The anxiety and panic is definitely the worst. And the nausea! Do you have any idea when it'll subside?

The anxiety will lessen with time. The dose increase does get worse before getting better. My anxiety seems to have reduced by about 75% now. I’m on day 40 x
