I hope someone can offer some positive help! I'm only week 6 and just posted that my tummy upsets have started again! This Sertraline is tough going!

Happy New Year! Keep warm and put something good on the tv, not much help I know but sometimes it takes your mind of things for a short time x

I've had a few times where I've felt less anxious but I've not yet had a full day where I've not felt low. I still have a panic moment each day. I'm hoping the few times I've felt a bit better will increase. I've gone out a few times over the Christmas holiday, just a few hours to the shops. I had stopped going out unless I absolutely had to. So that's been positive but it's very slow progress.

Thats what I hope too, good times should increase. Unfortunately I am not quite there yet. Its my 10th week. How are you? Hope you are much better

This week will be 10 weeks for me at 50mg. I hear it can take up to a full three months to feel half the benefits. It's a slow acting drug. Ask yourself, have any of your anxiety/depression symptoms eased up at all? I know mine have. Not all though, but that's how you know if it's working! This week I had indigestion again and pulpitations but last week was really good. It gets better.

The anxiety is much better no question about it, but apart from that I still feel awful. Absolutely no energy for doing anything, no motivation just laying around all day and dont get me wrong Ive never was a lazy person, always was going everywhere, loved to be with people, have lots of friends, never ever was in bed not with broken leg not with high temperature, just couldnt stay in bed never ever. Now I am quite the opposite of my old self, not interested in anything, wont going anywhere, dont call my friends, not bothered to answer their phone call (feeling guilty about this but I dont want them to see me in this state) Ive never was depressed before zoloft so it must be a side effect, but 9th week I think I should feel better than this. Long story short, question is, If it helped with my anxiety it means the med works and no matter how bad I suffering from other side effects?

My doctor started me off with 25 mg of Sertraline. I had been having heart palpitations with depression and anxiety for a long time. Cardiologist says my palpitations are harmless PVC's and nothing to worry about. So my primary care doctor said it is from general anxiety disorder and prescribed the Sertraline. The low dose was probably a good idea to start with. After about 2 weeks, the palpitations pretty much stopped. I had a follow up with my doctor and he upped the dose to 50 mg. After a few days, the palpitations started again and I was feeling antsy, depressed and anxious... so I cut back to the 25 mg. I been taking the 25 mg for the past couple of weeks. And I've been feeling better, but not great. I have periods that I feel pretty good, but then back down again. I am going to up the dose to the 50 mg in the next couple of days. I want to wait until after the New Year gets going. I still have family in town and I don't want to start the 50 mg until family has left... I'm not even sure what to expect and when. I guess I need to try to stay on the 50 mg for more than a few days... with the 50 mg , when does it get better?

Most of the ppl feel much better by the 9th week, thats why I am upset, I dint have much good days so far 😦

But it could take 12+ weeks until you fully level, so its a quite long process, first 3 weeks the worst. I wish you luck with the dose increase!

Sorry you are still feeling bad. I'm just over 7 weeks did try lowering the dose to 37 couple weeks ago for a few days as they were making me feel so bad. Increased back again to 50 mg and felt ten times worse so think maybe too high a dose for me. Think every one is different but if they aren't working by 12 weeks maybe go back to your doctor see what he thinks? Was previously on citalopram but had to stop because of hair loss, but don't think I felt as bad on that. All bit trial and error finding right dose/med it seems!

My doc says It will be ok, there is some improvement, so she thinks its gonna be working. But if she is right I should be better by now I think..

What were you taking it for in the first place? have read meant help anxiety but not very effective for depression. Think a lot people don't seem to improve until 12 weeks I'm nearly 8 and not noticing any improvement. 50mg id def too high for me with maybe because probably got some withdrawal from the citalopram as well. Keep posting and hope things improve

Sorry to hear that. I feel a bit better and this is week 10 for me. How long have you been on the same dose? I felt the same last week I was sure I am going backwards but today I walked nearly 6 km, went to shopping, cooked smthing, these all thing something I couldnt do last week. I was in bed nearly for a full week. Think about it twice if you wanna make any changes, I have seen sy who had been suffering for 14 month because he didnt wait long enough on any dose and made too much changes. How are you feeling exactly? What can you do and what cant you? How do you spend your days?
