Sertraline Weight Gain

Hi there guys, I've been on sertraline for approximately 3 weeks. I suffer from health anxiety (severe) and my doctor also diagnosed me with depression. I am quite petite (5'2) and weighed approximately 50kg. However during the time when my anxiety was really high I lost 4kg was quite a lot for me and I really didn't like it. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't gain weight (eating over 2500kcal a day). I completely lost my appetite, the idea of just eating made me sick. I couldn't even enjoy food. I finally started taking tablets and I have got my appetite back, no matter how much I eat I don't feel full up. I'm so happy with the weight gain but I'm noticing I'm putting weight on extremely quickly and very rapid. I just want to be my old size and not exceed it but at this rate I think I'm going to. I feel quite bloated too. Is this normal? Thank you x

One problem at a time. I have been on Setraline and gained weight thou it was because I was staying at home a lot. It is hard to imagine how Setraline makes you gain weight expect that it is making your tired or something which can means lowered metabolism? Any how I am happy with being happy and I will take care of weight gain later. I suggest you to go to increase the exercise instead of controlling your intake! I have reduced my weight twice substantially without eating much less and I happen to have two panic attacks one during each period.

After I have posted I realized you explained the connection between using the medicine and the weight gain. In any case I still think it would be better to eat and maybe exercise a bit harder.

What tablets are they? Maybe your body is so happy to feel normal it's replacing needed calories. If hunger is a side effect, you could ask your doc about it.

Sertraline done opposite for me it made me lose weight as it made my anxiety worse so my heart rate was always high because of this and would just burn all my calories constantly I think everyone's different many ask doctor if they can try other meds if you feel you need them as if it making you not feel good gaining weight then it won't help with your depression hope you feel better
