Hi Tracey, what mg r u on and how long have u been on sertraline overall? It does take around 6-12 weeks to level out. I used rescue remedy to get me through and it really did help. Also im learnt how to knit to take my mind off the anxiety x

Hi, it does take a while to get into your system. With every increase u should wait 6-12 weeks to feel any benefits. I was on 50mg for 8 weeks then upped to 100mg and I would say it take take around 10-12 weeks for me to start feeling like my old self. It does get worse before it gets better, so if u can try and get through the rough days, then good will soon be round the corner. I have now been on 100mg for around 6 months and I feel so much better. I do still have the odd horrible day but I know how to get through it. I also took rescue remedy to get me through the rough days. Have u heard of it??  X

Hi, no it has no side effects and completely fine to take with sert. It's a herbal remedy and comes in drops or spray which u squirt on your tounge. U can get it in any supermarket or chemist and even children and pets can take it for nerves. I give it to my dogs on firework night to calm them down. Read the reviews online. It really did help me, and I always carry it my bag ( just incase) haha x

I was first put on sertraline 8 months ago on 50mg for PTSD and anxiety. I literally couldn't do anything, my mind was just a mess. I couldn't go out, wash up, it was even hard to have a shower and eat and drink. Went to doc and got prescribed sertraline 50 mg. it took me 3 weeks to pluck the courage up to take them as I was very anti meds, but I just couldn't live the way I was, so I started taking the tab just as I was getting in bed so I would sleep through the harsh side effects. I did have heightened anxiety and lost appetite and had fatigue, bug to be honest I had that anyway as that was part of my anxiety. To take my mind off things I got into knitting so I had something else to concentrate on instead of the horrible thoughts and what if questions going round in my head. I then heard of rescue remedy and that really helped my anxious moments when I HAD to go out. The first 3 weeks on sert was not nice but it eased abit then at week 5 I had a couple of good days up until week 8, my doc then upped me to 100 mg and again the first 3 weeks were crappy but then I started having a few good days so I thought things were looking up, but at week 8 I dipped and had a bad few days but by week 10-12 I was feeling about 85% myself but now 6 months on 100mg I am back to old self. I still have some bad days but everyone does in life. Sertraline takes a while to level out, so if u can get through the days in the beginning then things will get better. I never thought I would feel right again but sertraline has seriously helped me out of a very dark place that I was in. My doc told me it takes up to 12 weeks to level out and with any increase it could take up to the same. I wish u well, and if u ever need advice or a chat then I'm here!!! Thus forum helped me sooooooo much with support and great advice x

It is a struggle but try and take it day by day until u start having the good days. It's still quite early days for u as u have increased and decreased, so just relax and take everyday as it comes. Did u manage to get the rescue remedy??? X
