sertraline with therapy

Hi
I started on Sertraline 18 days ago. I've even improving slowly, but I've just had a letter from my psychology assessment to say that I scored 8/27 for depression and 13/21 for anxiety. Just wondering what other peoples scores are as I'm really worrying about mine. The letter has made me really anxious!

What is it that you are worried about specifically? Is it because you think the scores are high? And are you on Sertraline for depression, anxiety or a combination of both?
I've been on 100mg for almost 5 months for anxiety. My depression scores are very low, but my anxiety scores aren't exactly high either. It's the overall picture really, so through talking to my doctor (and a counsellor) it is clear that I need to remain on it for a while yet, despite the scores not being sky high.
I don't think your scores are that high or anything to become more anxious about (easier said than done, I know), and at least you are getting some help in dealing with how you're feeling - so you're definitely going in the right direction! I hope it continues to help you.

Thanks for replying. I guess I am just worried about the scores being high. I was put on medication for feelings of anxiety and panic attacks. I don't feel like I am depressed at all, so seeing the score of 8 just panicked me as I don't really know what it means. I think today has been a bad day anyway as I've been quiet at work and my family are on holiday, so I've had plenty of time to worry. I usually find that carrying on as normal - seeing friends and family really helps me. I have group therapy at the end of the month, so hopefully that will help. I'll just keep on keeping on! P.S I am new to feeling anxious - never had anything like this before and it's horrible!

Please don't worry about your scores - they are a lot lower than mine have been in the past (on both anxiety and depression) and I have found the meds beneficial. The fact that you are coupling this with therapy is such a good thing and shows that you are taking the attempt at getting better really seriously.
Anxiety really is one of the worst things ever, because the symptoms are physical as well as mental, and often you can get yourself into a state purely for feeling anxious in the first place. A bit like a vicious circle.
I'm glad you have family and friends to help you through it - if you have understanding and supportive people around you, that makes all the difference.

I just don't think I've had much stress recently. I strongly believe that it's out of the blue. I've had stressful situations in the past and I didn't ever become anxious or have panic attacks because of it. It really feels unexpected and unwelcome!
