Sertraline withdrawal

My 16 year old daughter has been on 50 mg Sertraline for 2 years. Unbeknown to me she stopped abruptly 4 weeks ago and now she is really struggling with dizziness / nausea and anxiety / depression. My question is should she ride it out or go back on it and gradually reduce. She doesnt want to be on it but she hates feeling like this.

its not a great idea to abruptly stop. i did this and really struggled to the point where i was put back on them and my dose doubled. My GP told me its actually quite dangerous to do thus and can cause the issues to come back even worse than they were previously! I would speak to a GP and get their advice on what they think is right

my understanding is that its intense now bit the withdrawals will slowly abate. best to dpeak w her doctor though. i slowly tapered once and i had extreme withdrawals for about 3 days, about 3 days after i completely stopped. each day after the 3 worst were a tiny bit better. new research is that ssris need to slowly taper at the lowest doses. tapering down from say100mg to 75to 50 will be less symptomatic than from tapering from 25mg down to 0mg. so if she needs something to help her only a 1/2 pill of the lowest dose and see of that helps then taper down from there. theres no need for her to go back immediately to 50mg. but again talk to her doc first. i hope she feels better soon!!
